Our original service, Holy Cross Centre is based in the crypt of the Holy Cross Church in King's Cross, and twice each week opens its doors to all who want to come along. Most are isolated, and a number are living on the streets, while others are struggling with mental health or drug and alcohol issues. Some have places to live but find it hard to cope with the practicalities of managing their own homes, and their lack of social support networks. The centre offers practical help and crises support when needed. Its main opening times are in the evenings and weekends, the times when people can be most vulnerable to isolation. A benefits advisor is available during the Monday session. The rest of the week we open to people who have opted to join our members-only sessions - generally people who need more support to get by. At the heart of the centre is a strong service user voice and active service user committee informing service provision and strategy. The centre works in partnership with the City Lit and Westminster Kingsway Adult Education Colleges to provide a variety of vocational and therapeutic courses. Some service users are currently participating in a City & Guilds Level 2 and 3 Certificate in Mental Health.
Open Access Sessions
Club Sessions Who are the Club Members? Club members are people we meet in the Open Access Sessions who want and need more support. The Club provides a safer, more intimate environment than the Open Access Sessions and opens on Wednesdays and Sundays. We ask Club members not to drink or use drugs on the day. How do people hear about the Open Access Sessions? ● Word of Mouth
