Your Time: Your Choice

The time bank enables HCCT to offer those who want to give their time a unique and bespoke volunteer experince by offering the specific skills they have. Currently volunteers offer and exchange a huge range of skills including football and table-tennis coaching, arts and crafts, piano and drumming lessons, computer tuition and even Indian head massage. The roles below are just ideas to get you going, and are menat to inspire, not constrain.  Time banking is flexible and you can give your time when you can, for as long as you can - we’ll provide you with a safe environment to share your skills and support to plan, promote and execute your activity. For certain roles, we also offer specififc training.

Role: ACTIVITY LEADER

Overview: To organise and lead activities, make plans for future sessions and be in charge of setting up and tidying away before and after all sessions/groups.

Role: REFUGEE BEFRIENDER

Overview: To befriend and reduce the exclusion of a refugee, while increasing understanding and awareness through the befriending relationship. There is also an emphasis on improving the life skills of those who both Befriendees and Befrienders.

Overview: To co-ordinate a group of volunteers to devise a menu, prepare and cook a hot meal for up to people.

Role: COMMUNITY CAFE PROMOTIONS ASSISTANT

Overview: To promote our community cafe social enterprise to local people and businesses by giving out flyers, vouchers and samples in the Kings Cross area.
Full details: We need outgoing, enthusiastic, articulate and well-presented volunteers, preferably with a love of wonderful food (!) to promote our Community Cafe “Lumen”. The cafe is a social enterprise and an essential income stream for HCCT. We need your help to make it a success. Volunteers will be approaching members of the public directly, taking part in leaflet drops and handing out samples, flyers and vouchers.
