Camden & Islington Flexicare was established in 1996 with the aim of providing community support to people with mental health problems.

The service is funded and supported by the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington and through the Supporting People Programme.

From its inception the aims of Flexicare have been simple:

● Taking time to get to know individuals and
   their individual needs
● Listening
● Providing non-judgemental support and encouragement
● Providing practical help
● Providing hope that people can and do recover from
   mental health problems

The service operates as a supportive partnership aimed at clients being as independent and in control of their lives as they are able to be.

This can only be delivered by a diverse and dedicated team of Flexicare Support Workers. Support workers do not necessarily have a background in professional health or care work. Some may be with us while they gain vocational and professional qualifications to work in the Social Health care field, but all are people who value spending a few hours each week bringing their individual life experiences and empathy to help their clients pursue their individual goals.

Flexicare actively recruits bi-lingual support workers and adapts the service to clients’ cultural needs.
